Barley coffe, an healthy alternative for breakfast!

Origin

Barley is a cereal with very ancient roots: it was mentioned in ancient Egypt papyruses! It is a real benefit for your intestin with its many therapetical properties. In France, at the beginnin of the 19th century, it was used to make herbal teas combined with licorice and weed.

Cookit

Generally, when we talk about this ingredient we tend to associate it with pearl barley, because it predominant characteristic is that it never overcooks: as opposed to pasta and rice, barley never looses its consistency. This makes it a perfect dish either cold (in salads) or hot ( in soups). Thanks to its neutral flavour, it is possible to combine it with any other ingredient.

Barley juice is named “liquid gold”. To drink this beverage, is to compensate to a diet poor in vegetables. With its high vitamins concentration, minerals and enzymes it can be compared to a kilo and a half of dark green leaves vegetables.
