Origin

Kiwi is an exotic fruit (precisely a berry) produced by a typical climber tree in East Asia, the Actinidia Deliciosa (from the actinidiaceae family). It’s origins are amenable of South China and the first traces of its appereance are due back 700 years ago. At the beginning of XIX Century, Kiwi landed in England and during the 20th century it spread in New Zeland, becoming the leading fruit of an intensive cultivation. It seems that the name that we all know derives from the namesake bird from New Zeland.

Cook it

It is eaten as a fruit but is also a good garnishment for desserts, particularly for summer pies. It is also very good for jams, juices, smoothies and sweet dressing. Altough it’s not common, it is very used in savory dishes! It is very good to combine it with Prosciutto, salmon, cheeses and, according to fews, courgettes.
