Mustard

Mustard seeds and almond oil: homemade moisturizing scrub!

Origine

The word mustard defines a plant that originally comes from the Mediterrean basin and North Africa and has been known in Europe since the Greek age. The seeds of this plant are used as a spice, or to obtain the famous sauce bearing the same name, which dates back to France in the XVI century (the best kind is the Dijon type) and it is prepared with a slightly different recipe, depending on the country.

Cook It

Mustard is excellent above all when matched up with meat, both during cooking and as a sauce that accompanies the meat. It goes well with potato salds or oven baked potatos, to top cabbage or string beans. The sauce can be made at home: all you have to do is mix yellow and dark mustard seeds, a sweetener, apple vinegar, water, oil and salt, leave overnight, then blend.

Did You Know That?

Mustard seeds were used in Canada and in Eastern Europe together with honey as a cure for coughs and respiratory ailments. Today, it is often recomended as a topping in weight loss diets, due to its low calorie count.
