Origin
Originally from the Mediterranean, thyme grows in dry and sunny areas. In the classic world, thyme was widley cultivated and appreciated for its various properties. The name comes from the Greek word “thymos”, which represents emotion, vital breath, and courage. Teas and thyme infusions were served at banquets or given to soldiers to strengthen their spirit. During the centuries, its properties were confirmed, and thyme was used as medication in addition to being used as a spice in the kitchen.
