Blackberry

The first ripe blackberries, are also the sweetest: perfect for summer salad!

Origin

Blackberry, “rubus fruticosus”, has its origins in Europe and Asia and can be found from July till September. Greeks and Romans used this fruit as a medicine, especially to lower fewer and to cure gout. Today, blackberries grow in Eurasia and America and there are mostly wild cultivations, because they adapt well to any kind of soil. Because of their high perishability, it’s not so common to find them in a supermarket, but since they grow spontaneously, you can easily find them in the woods and countryside!

Also, there are many liquors and wines you can prepare with this fruit. Because of their refreshing and thirst-quenching properties, they are ideal to prepare summer dishes like salads or to be combined with meat. Lunch break?
