Try them as a light and healthy snack. They can help prevent hardening of the arteries!

Origin

Giffoni hazelnuts (PGI) are the crowned queen of the hazelnuts. Their sweet flavor, bold fragrance and extra round shape are what make them a unique and noble variety. Production is mainly concentrated around Salerno, and they’re harvested exclusively between the last 10 days of August and September, before temperatures fall and the cooler weather arrives. There are references to the Giffoni hazelnut dating back to medieval times and the Bourbon era. In the 1900s, they spread to meet the demands of a growing dessert-making industry. The volcanic terrain where they hail from has given them a one-of-a-kind flavor. You can even visit for the annual festival dedicated to the Giffoni hazelnut, where you can taste them at their peak.
