Tondina Spezzanese Olive

There is no better way to enjoy it than raw on a slice of toasted homemade bread!

Origin

The extra virgin olive oil made from Tondina Spezzanese olives is a rare and unique product. This olive is currently only found in the area of Cerchiara di Calabria. It had been abandoned for more productive varieties of olive from other regions and for Calabrian varieties that lend themselves to both oil and table olives. Nevertheless, Tondina Spezzanese olives are, to this day, used to produce a valued type of extra virgin olive oil. These olives are grown at 320 meters above sea level and are harvested towards the end of October. The fruit is bright black, compact and fully ripe. From it a bright yellow oil is obtained. It is very aromatic, characterized by herbal hints with notes of artichoke and fresh almonds.

Cookit

Tondina Spezzanese olive oil has a delicate and pleasant taste: a balanced, bittersweet mix accentuated by leaves, artichokes, bitter almonds and vegetables, stimulated by a pleasantly spicy finish that gives the product freshness. Perfect for preserving the famous spicy tuna-stuffed cherry peppers.

Did you know that

Tondina Spezzanese extra virgin olive oil is rich in oleocanthal, a natural antioxidant. Research has shown that it has anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving properties and is able to inhibit the build-up of amyloid beta in the brain. Precisely because of these characteristics it seems to play an active role in preventing the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.
