Origin
The first traces of man grown olive trees date back to a few thousand years before Christ and were found in the Middle East. In Roman times, the production of olive oil as an aliment expanded significantly till it became a symbol of Italy and the Mediterranean. The Romans were the first to classify olive oil by its quality.
Cook It
Extra virgin olive oil is one of the most important Southern Italian products. It is used for sauteing or frying, as a dressing for almost anything or as a substitute for butter when baking sweets. Let’s not forget that is also a natural preservative. It’s enough to palce food in a jar, cover in oil and close tight: there you have traditional oil preserves!
Did you Know That
Oil is perfect to remove resin or glue from your skin or surfaces. It is a delicate product and needs to be preserved in dark bottles, in a fresh and dark place, to avoid it becoming rancid.
