Peas

Origin

The pea belongs to the Fabaceae family. Its origin is not known but some claim it comes from India and is more than 5000 years old. Peas are legumes whose cultivation began in Mesopotamia around the year 3000 b.C and were immediately loved by greeks and romans.

Cook it

Peas are one of the most digestible legume. Due to their delicate taste, they combine wonderfully both with hot and cold dishes. They taste wonderfully in vegetarian lasagne, with asparagus, in risottos with Tofu. It is a typical ingredient used during the spring and it is an excellent addition to salads, quinoa, barley and whole wheat pasta.

Did you Know that

Peas have been one of the most famous vegetables in history. They were already used by Louis XIV’s court. Apparently, peas were loved so much that the ladies of the court used to eat them day and night, and they were their favourite midnight snack. After more than three centuries, peas are still very frequently used because they taste delicious in so many different recipes and also because they are incredibly healthy for the intestine.
