Raspberry

Cheeses and raspberry jams! Perfect snack in the mountains!

Origin

Raspberries are part of the Rosaceae family whose origins can be traced to certain parts of continental Europe and Asia Minor. Of all the berries, this is one of the best loved for its tart but sweet flavor and its many benefits for the body and the skin. The plant can grow up to two meters tall with beautiful white flowers. Raspberry cultivation is rare in Italy: there are only a few producers in Piedmont and Trentino, and their reach is not very far. They normally grow in open spaces likes forests. They’re easy to grow in temperate climates and tend to spread rapidly.

Cook it

Due to its sour taste, it matches perfectly with desserts such as puddings cakes, ice creams, salads, crepes or with a dollop of wipped cream. It is also used to add some flavor to liquors and brandies. A must to try: a bowl of raspberries covered by wipped cream.

It is a fruit rich in history and antioxidant and detox properties. Its extract, made from leaves and gems, it is recomended for the last months of pregnancy because it helps uterus mussels to be stronger so contractions can be less painful.
